It doesn't really add much of interest to the formula of Spelunky, especially in terms of builds and overall options for the player as they go through the game. So how do you guys think 2 compares to 1 now that its been out for a bit? I won't be playing it until the Switch release. Have you cleared the game without using shortcuts? I got seeded runs with 17 characters, none from Sunken city. I was hoping I could do seeded runs to help me reach the trickier areas of the game, but if I really need to unlock every character first then I might just give up or use a save editor or something.Ĭount Mippipopolous fucked around with this message at 22:05 on Dec 27, 2020 That's what I've read, but as far as I can tell, I have all the characters that don't require getting to the sunken city and my camp still has not updated with the way up. Some number of character unlocks, then climb up to the surface in the camp and pick the little item up. I have 18 of the total characters and I've beaten the normal ending of the game, but no seeded runs for me yet. So how exactly do you unlock seeded runs? The guides I've found seem incorrect. Sway Grunt fucked around with this message at 20:58 on Dec 26, 2020 I mean there's the blaster itself obviously, do I lug that into Neo-Babylon or something? I dropped it in order to keep the scepter (SC/CO wasn't in the cards anymore at that point). can I get a small hint for 5-1? I blew up the entirety of Lahamu's lair with the alien blaster and killed everything in it that could be killed but didn't find anything that seemed like the next step. I'm probably too precious about avoiding spoilers in general, but still.Įdit: Speaking of. I did that for the first 120 hours or so and am glad for it - even Olmec's second phase was a really fun surprise - but I'm definitely past the point of random experimentation. The game is difficult enough that I'd hate to laboriously struggle to do something over a period of time and then find out it wasn't even anything meaningful at all. It's kind of a delicate balance to get enough guidance so that I know there's at least a point to trying to accomplish these feats, but without spoiling the results or knowing too much. I could just look stuff up on the wiki but that's 100% guaranteed to spoil adjacent poo poo. Yeah I don't know that I'd want to try and juggle quite that many things at once to try and take it into the CO.īy the way I appreciate you and everyone else answering my dumb questions in this thread. If you crouch+attack while riding a mount you'll get the mount to do it's thing even if you're holding an item. The only thing backwhip isn't better for than regular whip is that if an arrow trap is too close and it's coming from below you won't be able to whip the arrow away, but in those situations you're usually using a rock or something instead Sway Grunt fucked around with this message at 15:56 on Dec 25, 2020 Hopefully I don't have to do this again, although frankly I wouldn't mind visiting that area again some time. Perhaps unlocked an item? Even though there'd be no point cause you're done with the run at that stage. 99 health and the eggplant crown not gonna help me there!!Įdit2: In hindsight it now occurs to me that killing Hundun with the eggplant crown might have done something? Maybe I shouldn't be laughing at myself for dying moments from the finish line on that run. Got knocked onto spikes on 7-4 by a frog. But you're right, this is an excellent seed. Tried to fire at an Olmite, which tossed EC all the way across the level instead. I was on 6-3, riding Qilin and holding the Eggplant Child. Ive been playing with magnuts tying to change the wold as we know itĥ5599988 might be a fairly good seed for a couple different challenges Its probably just better to time your attacks by walking into an enemy at the apex of its swing Idk I love/hate this game but the whip is definitely doodoo unless you hit something on the backswing or get a better method of attack You're right, it's so weird that people who are posting in a thread about a game they like get defensive when randos show up with paper-thin "lol this thing you like is bad" arguments. Not sure why, I guess Spelunky 2 attracts a certain personality? This thread is frequently rude and multiple posters seem really weirdly defensive about the game.
